Classics, Christmas and Cooking

Happy Saturday.
Another weekend of relaxing and enjoying the approaching season. Getting caught up on life, laundry, Christmas shopping online and classic movies. Last week it was Barefoot in the Park and The Way We Were (Robert Redford much?). Just watched Casablanca. It was lovely. It's intersting to hear lines that I have heard quoted my whole life and finally know where they came from. The film, might I also add, was  to me an example of chivalrous and sacrificial love. Refreshing to watch values on the screen again.

Have you ever opened a beer or bottle of wine just to have a bit and then forget about it---sadly to the point where its lost its flavor? Well...I have several times. BUT I absolutely HATE wasting food. SO a Yengling Black and Tan has now become Banana Beer Bread (with almonds) this morning. And a sad bottle of Merlot became a drunken pot roast a couple weeks ago.

I love thinking out of the box with food.

I have also pre-browned beef and frozen it for quick use in pastas or other dishes, like the quiche i have in the oven with my beer bread this morning. Quick, simple, easy is the only way to go.

Still thinking about how to design my Christmas cards and how I'll hang my Christmas lights this year, with no outlets outside my house...
